The Challenge

Clinic Cleo's WordPress website had accumulated significant database bloat over time, with the database reaching approximately 1.2 GB.

The database contained years of accumulated WordPress overhead, including post revisions, auto-drafts, expired transient data, unnecessary records and leftovers generated by plugins and routine website activity.

The growing database was consuming excessive hosting storage and making ongoing WordPress maintenance and backups unnecessarily heavy.

Because Clinic Cleo is a live healthcare and aesthetic clinic website serving real customers across multiple locations, the cleanup had to be performed carefully without disrupting the website, its content or its existing functionality.

The goal was not simply to delete data, but to safely identify unnecessary database records, significantly reduce storage usage and leave the live website fully functional.

Our Solution

The project began with a careful audit of the WordPress database to identify unnecessary and accumulated data before performing any cleanup.

The database was then cleaned and optimized in controlled stages, removing unnecessary WordPress data while preserving the content and records required by the live website.

After optimization, the website was thoroughly checked to ensure that its pages, content and functionality continued working correctly.

During post-cleanup testing, several frontend images were found not displaying correctly even though they remained available inside Elementor. The issue was traced to lazy-loading behavior rather than missing media files. The affected frontend image display was corrected and the relevant pages were verified again.

To reduce future database accumulation without requiring the client to purchase an additional premium database-cleaning license, WP-Optimize was configured with an automated weekly database cleanup schedule.

The result was a much smaller database together with an ongoing maintenance process designed to help prevent the same level of unnecessary database growth from returning.

Client rating

The optimization reduced Clinic Cleo's WordPress database from approximately 1.2 GB to just over 100 MB, representing roughly a 90% reduction in database storage usage.

The website remained fully operational after the cleanup, and frontend image-display issues discovered during post-cleanup testing were also resolved.

A weekly automated database optimization schedule was configured to help control future database growth and reduce the need for repeated manual cleanup.

The client confirmed that everything was working correctly and reported that the website was noticeably faster after optimization.

The project received a 5-star Fiverr review, with the client specifically highlighting the dramatic database reduction, improved website speed and quality of the work.
